According to authorities, the multi-vehicle collision transpired around 1:42 p.m. on westbound Dublin Boulevard, just east of Regional Street.

Dublin, CA – 45-year-old Michael Bertalan of San Ramon died, and three others were hospitalized after a rear-end collision that happened Monday afternoon in Dublin.
According to authorities, the multi-vehicle collision transpired around 1:42 p.m., May 25, on westbound Dublin Boulevard, just east of Regional Street.
The accident happened when, Bertalan, who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta, stopped for a red light in a right-hand turn lane. At that time, a Lexus traveling at a high rate of speed slammed into the rear of the Jetta. The driver of the Lexus did not appear to brake prior to the crash.
The first impact caused the vehicles to move out of control and collide with several other cars.
The Alameda County Fire Department responded to the scene and used hydraulic tools to extricate the two occupants in the Jetta. The Lexus was also occupied by two people. The firefighters transported all four occupants to local hospitals.
Bertalan later died from his injuries.
Two of the other patients remained in critical condition.
Authorities are investigating the collision, but said impairment did not appear to be a contributing factor.
