Yucaipa, CA – One of the three people who were injured following a head-on collision at an intersection in Yucaipa on July 25 is dead, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as Linda Kaufman, an 80-year-old resident of Yucaipa.
The deadly collision happened at about 12:28 p.,. on July 25, 2026, at the intersection of Bryant Street and State Route 38.
Investigators said a white Chevrolet Silverado and a gray Ford Explorer were involved in what appeared to be a head-on crash.
The Explorer reportedly caught fire with Kaufman, who was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash, trapped inside.
Kaufman and two other people were transported to the hospital. Kaufman was in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the hospital.

Yucaipa, CA – Three people were hospitalized, one in critical condition, after a traffic collision that happened Saturday afternoon at an intersection in Yucaipa.
According to California Highway Patrol logs, the accident was reported around 12:28 p.m. on July 25, 2026, at Bryant Street and State Route 38.
A white Chevrolet Silverado and a gray Ford Explorer were involved in an alleged head-on crash. The vehicles were blocking westbound Bryant Street after the collision.
The Explorer reportedly caught fire with an elderly female occupant still inside. Good Samaritans were attempting to get her out of the car before emergency personnel arrived.
Paramedics responded and transported three people to Loma Linda University Medical Center. One of the patients, a driver, was listed in critical condition.
Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
Authorities are investigating the collision.
