Santa Fe Springs, CA. – A worker was killed Monday morning after being struck by a street sweeper at a construction site in Santa Fe Springs, according to the Whittier Police Department.

The fatal accident occurred around 8:33 a.m. on the 10600 block of Carmenita Road, where paving work was underway.

Responding officers from the Whittier Police Department found the man pinned beneath the vehicle.

Firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as an employee of Pave West, a paving contractor based in Artesia.

His name has not yet been released pending notification of family.

The vehicle involved reportedly bore markings from another company.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.

WPD is handling the investigations.
