Sacramento, California (August 22, 2023) – A woman is dead following a two-vehicle collision that happened on Monday afternoon in Sacramento.

The accident was reported around 2:20 p.m. on Highway 99 at Highway 50, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A man was driving a Toyota northbound on Highway 99 behind a dump truck. For unknown reasons, the dump truck slowed down and was rear-ended by the Toyota.

A 22-year-old Sacramento woman riding in the Toyota was taken to the hospital where she died.

The male driver was transported to the hospital with major injuries.

A 6-month-old and a 1-year-old riding in the rear passenger seats of the Toyota were unhurt.

CHP ruled out DUI as possible factor in the collision.
