Sutter County, CA. – A woman died in a head-on traffic collision that happened Tuesday afternoon at an intersection in northern Sutter County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 1:50 p.m. at Live Oak Boulevard and Eager Road.
A Hyundai Elantra and a Honda Accord were involved in the collision.
Investigators said the Hyundai was northbound when the driver attempted to turn left onto westbound Eager Road and moved into the path of the southbound Honda.
The vehicles collided head-on. The Hyundai stopped in the northbound lane of Live Oak Boulevard with major front-end damage, and the Honda stopped in a dirt and gravel area on the southwest corner near the Korean Methodist Church. It also acquired major damage.
The passenger in the Hyundai, only identified as a woman, was taken to Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries. The Honda driver was hospitalized, but the Hyundai driver refused transportation.
Authorities are investigating, but do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role.
