According to the CHP, a 1992 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on Wildcat Road when it left the roadway and went down an embankment

Shasta County, CA.- A woman and a young boy were killed in a tragic accident that occurred in Shasta County early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Wildcat Road east of Rancheria Creek Road shortly after 5 a.m. September 15.
According to the CHP, a 1992 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on Wildcat Road when it left the roadway and went down an embankment.
The vehicle came to a rest on its right side against a tree.
The three occupants of the vehicle were ejected.
The 40-year-old driver and one of her passengers, an 8-year-old boy, were both declared deceased at the scene.
The second passenger, an 11-year-old boy, was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for treatment of unspecified injuries.
According to the CHP, the three occupants of the Ford were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The crash remained under investigation.
