Williams was pronounced dead at the scene
Curry County, OR. – Two people were killed in a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Highway 101 in Curry County Wednesday evening, according to Oregon State Police.
The OSP identified the deceased parties as 63-year-old Joni Marie Williams of Bandon and 18-year-old Hunter Lee Sturgill of Coos Bay
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:14 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, on Highway 101, near milepost 286 near Langlois.
According to the preliminary investigation, a southbound white Buick Lucerne, operated by Joni Williams, crossed the centerline for unknown reasons. The Buick entered the path of a northbound silver Pontiac Vibe and collided with the vehicle head-on.
Williams was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the Pontiac, identified as Hunter Sturgill, was also pronounced deceased at the scene.
Highway 101 was impacted for approximately three hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the crash scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
