Victorville, CA – 24-year-old Miguel Escobar died after his motorcycle collided with a semi-truck Saturday night at an intersection in Victorville.
The deadly crash occurred around 9:06 p.m., March 14, on Highway 395 at Mojave Drive.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Escobar was riding a motorcycle westbound on Mojave Drive when he ran a red light at Highway 395 and collided with a semi-truck traveling northbound on the highway. Escobar’s bike collided with the rear partition of the big rig.

According to the 2023 OTS rankings, Victorville reported 33 victims killed or injured in motorcycle collisions, ranking it 31st out of 62 similar-sized cities—a mid-tier safety profile. However, San Bernardino County consistently ranks among the top four deadliest in California for riders. Preliminary 2024–2025 data suggest that unsafe speed (28%) and right-of-way violations (19%) remain the primary crash factors in the High Desert region.
To address these trends in 2026, Victorville is aligning with the San Bernardino County Local Roadway Safety Plan, which targets the “High Injury Network.” Current initiatives focus on high-speed corridors like Bear Valley Road and Palmdale Road, where intersection conflicts are most frequent. The city is utilizing state grants to implement systemic upgrades, including enhanced signal visibility and protected left-turn phases, specifically designed to prevent the broadside collisions that account for over 31% of fatal motorcycle incidents in urban California areas.
