Escondido, CA – The San Diego County Coroner's Office has identified a motorist killed in a Tuesday afternoon crash on Enterprise Street in Escondido as 86-year-old Walter Robbins of San Marcos.
The accident occurred at around 1:06 p.m. on March 4 on Enterprise Street and West Mission Road, according to the California CHP.
Robbins was driving a Toyota pickup truck westbound on W. Mission Road when the truck made a right turn maneuver onto Enterprise Street and drove through a lowered automatic gate prior to stopping on the train tracks and being struck by an eastbound NCTD Sprinter train.
Robbins was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
