San Diego County, CA – A young driver died after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 in Fallbrook, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred along northbound Interstate 15 just north of State Route 76 in Fallbrook on February 8, 2026. Authorities reported that the injured driver later died at 9:19 a.m. on February 9, 2026.
Investigators said Quincey Ockletree, 20, of San Marcos, was driving a vehicle that, for unknown reasons, entered ongoing traffic lanes. His vehicle collided with one vehicle before being struck by a second vehicle in the northbound lanes of I-15.
Ockletree was transported by paramedics to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where lifesaving efforts continued. Despite medical treatment, he succumbed to blunt force injuries of the head. The manner of death was ruled an accident. No other injuries were specified, and no arrests have been reported.
The exact cause of the San Diego County crash remains under investigation, and officials have not determined why the vehicle entered active traffic lanes. No contributing conditions were listed.
Emergency services personnel responded to the scene and provided lifesaving measures before transporting Ockletree to the hospital. The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
