Encinitas, CA – The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a man killed in an accident on Jupiter Street in Encinitas as Roderick Armstrong, 60, of Los Angeles.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at around 6 p.m. on March 9 on Jupiter Street near Leucadia State Beach.
A preliminary investigation revealed Armstrong was trying to help his stepfather maneuver a car into a parking space in the 100 block of the street when an Acura sedan driven by the older man ran over Armstrong, leaving him pinned beneath it. Emergency crews freed Armstrong and medics took him to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
An investigation is underway.

Encinitas, CA – A 60-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian accident in Encinitas Sunday evening.
The deadly wreck happened at around 6 p.m. on March 9 in the 100 block of Jupiter Street, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Reports revealed that a car, operated by an 84-year-old, struck the man for unknown reasons.
The man, whose name was not immediately disclosed, died at the crash site.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers.
