The mishap happened at around 7:40 a.m. February 2 at the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and 135th Street, near Rowley Park, according to the Gardena Police Department.
Gardena, CA – The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner has a female driver killed in a Sunday morning crash at Van Ness Avenue in Gardena as 76-year-old Patricia Ware.
The mishap happened at around 7:40 a.m. February 2 at the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and 135th Street, near Rowley Park, according to the Gardena Police Department.
A preliminary investigation revealed that 29-year-old Marian James was traveling southbound on Van Ness when she ran a red light at 135th Street, colliding with the eastbound vehicle operated by Ware.
Ware was declared dead at the scene.
James fled the scene but was later located and placed under arrest outside of her home and she was later booked at the Gardena Police Department.
An investigation is ongoing.
