Apple Valley, CA – The authorities have identified as man who was critically injured in a rear-end traffic collision at an Apple vally Intersection on Sunday evening as Dean William, 43, of Lucerne Valley.
According to the CHP, the crash was reported at around 7:15 p.m. December 15 at Bear Valley and Deep Creek Roads.
As per the reports, William was at the trunk of his 2006 Chrysler 300 when a 2024 Hyundai Elantra struck his vehicle from behind.
William was pinned in between the vehicles and his leg was amputated on site.
He was subsequently transported to a trauma center in critical condition.
The 29-year-old driver of the Hyundai, Rebecca Elizabeth Black, a resident of Apple Valley, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, with a special allegation of causing great bodily injury.
The wreck remains under investigation.

Apple Valley, CA – A man was killed in a Sunday night car crash on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley, according to the Apple Valley Police Department.
The collision was reported at around 7:16 p.m. December 15 on Bear Valley Road and Deep Creek Road.
Reports indicated that a stalled Chrysler 300 was stopped in the middle turning lane, receiving a jump start from a van, when an eastbound blue Hyundai Elantra on Bear Valley Road was unable to stop and rear-ended the Chrysler.
Firefighters from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to the scene and requested a helicopter to airlift a critically injured individual to a trauma center.
A second person sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance.
The deputies handcuffed the female driver of the Hyundai, identified as Rebecca Elizabeth Black.
She has been booked into the High Desert Detention Center for VC 23153(A) DUI Alcohol causing Bodily Injury.
No additional details regarding the mishap were provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
