Apple Valley, CA – Three people were airlifted to trauma centers after a big rig accident that happened late Monday morning near Apple Valley.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Volvo semi-truck collided with a gray Ford F-150 around 11:17 a.m. at Stoddard Wells Road and Interstate 15.
First responders found the big rig with front-end damage on the driver’s side and the pickup truck on the dirt shoulder of the northbound I-15 Stoddard Wells Road off-ramp.
Three victims were suffering from serious injuries, including one who needed to be extricated from the wreckage.
Apple Valley Fire Department transported the patients by ground ambulances to the Apple Valley airport from where they were airlifted by California Highway Patrol, REACH, and Mercy Air helicopters to out-of-area trauma centers.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.

Victorville, CA – One person was hospitalized after a semi-truck accident that happened late Monday morning on a freeway off-ramp in Victorville.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash was reported around 11:17 a.m. on the Stoddard Wells and Frontage roads off-ramp from northbound Interstate 15.
Authorities said a dark-gray Ford pickup truck collided with a semi-truck under unclear circumstances.
The vehicles were blocking traffic lanes after the crash.
One person was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
CHP officers are investigating the collision.
