Newark, CA. — Two men were killed Thursday evening in a solo-vehicle crash that happened in Newark.
The crash happened about 5:28 p.m. on westbound Thornton Avenue near Hickory Street, police reported.
Two men were in the vehicle when it went out of control and crashed.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was identified Friday by the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau as Anthony Andres Reynoza Monchez, 33, of Hayward.
The passenger was identified as Luis Alberto Deras, 31, of Union City.
They were the only occupants of the vehicle, police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Authorities have not yet determined if speed, alcohol, or other factors played a role.
