Thermal, CA – The man who was killed in a vehicle versus motorcycle crash at an intersection in Thermal early Tuesday morning has been identified, according to authorities.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as 29-year-old Salvador Torres Garcia of Thermal.
The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of 59th Avenue and Pierce Street at approximately 5:56 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Preliminary investigation findings indicate that Garcia was riding a Honda motorcycle northbound when he collided with a southbound Subaru sedan driven by a 26-year-old man. Authorities reported that the Subaru made a left turn directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle, leading to the crash.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene at about 6:14 a.m. The driver of the Subaru was not injured. No arrests have been reported.
The crash led to road closures in the area for a period of time as authorities conducted their on-scene investigation.
Emergency responders, including fire personnel, the coroner, and Riverside County Sheriff’s Office deputies, assisted at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
