Tempe, AZ – At least one person was transported to a hospital after being involved in a vehicle collision at an intersection in Tempe on Tuesday morning.
According to the Tempe police, the collision occurred just before 8 a.m. on February 17, near University Drive and McClintock Drive.
Through investigation, police learned that a driver failed to stop for a light at the intersection and crashed into the rear of a vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The impact caused the first vehicle to roll over.
Emergency crews responded to the site of the incident and medics evaluated the involved individuals.
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.
The accident led to the closure of McClintock Drive just south of University Drive as authorities conducted onscene investigations and firefighters cleared the scene. The roadway was reopened just before 9 a.m.
According to Tempe police, the driver who caused the collision was suspected of DUI. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
