Stockton is the county seat of San Joaquin County and is the most populated city with so many busy roadways. It's no wonder the city records a huge number of traffic accidents each year and ranks as one of the dangerous cities in California. In 2022, Stockton saw 2096 fatalities and injuries due to traffic accidents, according to data from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). Of these victims, 64 were motorcyclists, 89 bicyclists, and 138 were pedestrians. Nearly 21% of all traffic-related injuries were caused by speed, and 12% were DUI-related. Some of the dangerous roads in Stockton have been identified as Pacific Avenue, Hammer Lane, and West Lane. The statistics by OTS highlight the need for more enforcement to caution motorists and keep the roads safer.
