Stanislaus County, CA – The 80-year-old woman who was killed when two vehicles were involved in a broadside collision at an intersection in Stanislaus County on Tuesday evening has been identified.
According to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office, Delhi resident Rosa Renteria died following the wreck that happened at about 5:30 p.m. March 24, on Gratton Road and East Avenue, approximately three miles east of Turlock.
A preliminary investigation reveals that a 16-year-old El Dorado Hills girl was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck south on Gratton Road when she failed to yield to the right-of-way at the intersection and broadsided a Honda sedan traveling westbound on East Avenue.
Authorities reported that Rosa Renteria, who was a passenger in the Honda, was taken to Doctors Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
The operator of the sedan, 76-year-old Jose Renteria, also of Delhi, was taken to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
The 16-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene while a passenger in her vehicle, a 77-year-old man from Winton, was not hurt.
According to the CHP, all parties involved in the wreck were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. DUI was not believed to have played any role in the crash.
More information on the deadly crash has not been released and the CHP continues to investigate the crash.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at around 5:30 p.m. March 24, on Gratton Road and East Avenue, nearly three miles east of Turlock.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 16-year-old El Dorado Hills girl was driving a pickup truck southbound on Gratton Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and broadsided a Honda sedan.
Authorities reported that an 80-year-old Delhi woman, who was a passenger in the sedan, was taken to a hospital, where she was declared deceased. The driver of the sedan, a 76-year-old Delhi man, was transported to Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries.
The teenage driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene while her passenger, a 77-year-old Winton man, was not injured.
All involved parties were wearing their seatbelts and impairment was not suspected in the incident, according to the CHP.
Tha cause of the collision is under investigation by the CHP and further details are expected to be released.
