Spring Valley, CA – A 21-year-old man, identified as Esteban Rodriguez of Spring Valley, was killed early Wednesday following a single-vehicle crash on State Route 125 in Spring Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:32 a.m. on November 26, 2025, on the northbound lanes of State Route 125 just south of State Route 94.
Based on preliminary information, Rodriguez had been traveling northbound on SR-125 in a sedan at the time of the crash. Authorities stated that the sedan drifted off the freeway for reasons still under investigation, ultimately striking a tree situated on the roadside embankment.
Paramedics arrived shortly after a 911 call was placed and found the driver unresponsive. Rodriguez was pronounced deceased at the scene due to multiple blunt-force injuries.
CHP officers, fire personnel, and paramedics responded to the crash location. The California Highway Patrol confirmed that next of kin had been notified.
It was not immediately clear if another vehicle was involved in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and CHP has not yet confirmed whether speed, impairment, or distraction played a role.
The collision prompted partial lane closures in the area of northbound SR-125 while emergency crews conducted on-scene operations.
