Bakersfield, California (March 22, 2022) – 77-year-old Seluster Lane, of Redwood City, has been identified as the man who was killed in a car crash in Bakersfield early Tuesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred on northbound Highway 99 near Merced Avenue at around 4:44 a.m.

A van was reportedly stopped in the traffic lanes for unknown reasons when a semi-truck rear-ended it.

The impact of the collision pushed the van to the right shoulder, causing Lane to be ejected.

Lane was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi-truck driver was unhurt.

Officials say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
