Investigators reported that Hakansson was driving a driving a Tesla when he tried to make a left turn at the intersection of Yardham Drive
Sea Ranch, CA – The man who was killed in a crash between two vehicles on Highway 1 in the Sea Ranch area Friday evening has been identified.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Nils Hakansson, 88, of Sebastopol, died following the accident that took place just before 5 p.m. on April 17, on Highway 1 at Yardham Drive.
Investigators reported that Hakansson was driving a driving a Tesla when he tried to make a left turn at the intersection of Yardham Drive.
A southbound Dodge pickup truck pulling a trailer was unable to stop in time and crashed into the Tesla.
According to CHP, Hakansson was declared deceased at the scene of the accident.
A person riding as a passenger in the Tesla sustained major injuries and was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Dodge was transported by ground ambulance to sn area hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
The collision led to the closure of Highway 1 in both directions as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
