Fresno, California (March 19, 2022) – Sarahi Ramirez, 17, a senior at W.E.B. DuBois Public Charter School in Fresno, was killed in a traffic collision that took place on Friday night near Marks and Jensen avenues.

According to authorities, a Chevy Tahoe driver failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and T-boned a GMC truck that Ramirez was driving at the intersection.

The accident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. March 18.

Ramirez was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The second motorist was suspected to have been driving under the influence.

Authorities said the driver was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected by the impact of the collision.The driver was taken to CRMC for treatment of major injuries and was later arrested for DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.

The driver was expected to be booked into the Fresno County Jail.

The crash is under investigation.
