Preliminary reports indicate that a truck was traveling southbound on Soquel Drive when it got into crash with a bicyclist heading south

Santa Cruz County, CA – A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle on Friday afternoon in Santa Cruz County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on Soquel Drive near Porter Street at around 3:46 p.m. on September 11.
Preliminary reports indicate that a truck was traveling southbound on Soquel Drive when it got into crash with a bicyclist heading south. Details on what led up to the accident were not immediately available.
Investigators reported that the bicyclist was rushed a hospital, where the victim was later declared deceased.
The driver of the truck stayed at the scene after the collision.
According to CHP, alcohol and/or drugs were suspected to have played a role in the incident and the truck driver was arrested.
