Santa Ana, CA – A motorcyclist sustained major injuries in a traffic collision on State Route 55 in Santa Ana Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on the southbound State Route 55 just south of Del Mar Avenue at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
Preliminary investigation reports indicate the collision involved a motorcycle and another vehicle. Initial dispatch information suggested a solo motorcycle crash, but authorities later confirmed that the incident involved two vehicles, including the motorcycle and an unidentified vehicle. The motorcycle was later moved out of the travel lanes to the right shoulder by bystanders.
Authorities reported that the motorcyclist sustained major injuries in the collision. The rider was reportedly standing following the crash and was assisted by Good Samaritans who helped move him to the roadside. The identity of the injured rider has not yet been released, and it was not immediately clear whether any additional injuries were reported.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene along with personnel from the Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue, who provided medical assistance and evaluated the injured rider.
The crash affected traffic along the southbound State Route 55 near Del Mar Avenue for a period of time as authorities worked to clear the roadway and investigate the incident.
The Santa Ana crash remains under investigation by authorities.
