San Jose, CA – A bicyclist died after being hit by a dump truck Thursday morning at an intersection in San Jose, the San Jose Police Department reported.
Authorities received reports of the crash around 7:45 a.m. on September 3, 2026, on Tully Road at Lanai Avenue near the Highway 101 on-ramp.
SJPD reported that a 2012 Freightliner truck was traveling westbound on Tully Road, approaching the on-ramp and passing the Lanai Avenue intersection, when it hit a man riding an electric bicycle westbound in the bike lane.
The man driving the truck immediately stopped after the accident and remained at the scene.
First responders pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene. The man will be publicly identified after authorities notify his next of kin.
Police officers do not believe drugs and alcohol contributed to the accident.
Investigators closed Tully Road between South King Road and the Highway 101 on-ramp while they worked the scene.
