San Jose, CA – One person died, and three others were injured when a driver fleeing police officers ran a red light at a San Jose intersection and collided with another vehicle.
According to San Jose police, the incident took place around 12:19 a.m. on June 14, 2026, at Naglee Avenue and Park Avenue.
A preliminary investigation revealed that around 12:06 a.m., police officers with the Santa Clara Police Department saw a gold Buick driving recklessly, including driving on the center median and the wrong side of the road on Stevens Creek Boulevard. The officers attempted to pull over the driver, but the motorist sped away, traveling through Santa Clara city streets and Highway 880 in San Jose.
The Buick ran a red light at Naglee and Park in San Jose and collided with another car and a traffic pole.
A woman who was a passenger in the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Buick and two passengers in the other car were taken to the hospital with varying degrees of injuries.
The San Jose Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the collision.
