San Jacinto, CA – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported a deadly crash that claimed the life of a 48-year-old man in San Jacinto on Sunday afternoon.
A single vehicle was involved in the accident that took place on Mountain and Old Mountain avenues just before 1:25 a.m. December 28.
According to a preliminary investigation, a vehicle was traveling north on Mountain Avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and and was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle came a stop on the opposite side nearly 200 feet away.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department found the driver unresponsive at the scene and performed CPR on him. Howevere, the driver was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver was identified as Jesus Almanza, 48, by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
The vehicle sustained major damage in the accident. Authorities temporarily blocked Mountain Road between Esplanade Avenue and Seventh Street as they investigated the accident.
The exact cause of the crash remained under investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
