San Diego, CA – A woman was struck and injured by a vehicle after exiting a car she was a passenger in early Monday morning in San Diego.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident was reported at around 1:20 a.m. April 6, on Pacific Highway and Washington Street.
Preliminary reports indicate that a man was driving on the highway when his van spun out of control. The man and his female passenger exited the van and the woman was hit shortly after by an oncoming car.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene a few minutes later and the woman was rushed to a hospital with an open leg fracture. Her injuries were considered serious.
The SDPD reported that the driver who hit the victim stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigators. The report indicates that the driver suffered minor injuries.
There was no reason to believe that alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident and no arrests were reported, according to SDPD.
An investigation to establish the exact cause of the collision is ongoing.
