Salinas, CA – Three people who were killed in a head-on crash Sunday night on Abbott Street just outside Salinas have been identified.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Abigail Tinoco, 19, of Downey, 18-year-old Sebastian Burgos of Downey, and 18-year-old Noah Trevino of Soledad.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:04 p.m. on Abbott Street and Highway 101 near the Firestone entrance.

Investigators said a black Nissan Altima was traveling southbound while a white Honda CR-V was heading northbound when the Honda crossed into the southbound lane for an unknown reason and collided head-on with the Nissan.

At least three people were inside each vehicle at the time of the crash.

Three passengers were killed in the crash. The victims, Tinoco and Burgos, were passengers in the Honda, while Trevino was riding in the Nissan.

Three other people sustained major injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Abbott Street was closed following the crash and later reopened.

The incident remains under investigation
