Ruben Rodriguez Killed in Fresno County Crash on Highway 180 near Sonoma Avenue

Fresno County, California (March 27, 2023) – Authorities have identified Ruben Rodriguez, 49, of Antioch, as the man killed Sunday evening multi-car crash in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol says the fatal accident occurred on Highway 180 near south Sonoma Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. on March 26.

Rodriguez was driving a westbound Chevy when he veered to the left, crossed over the center line, and sideswiped a Mustang heading in the opposite direction.

The Chevy then collided head-on with a Toyota. The Chevy was engulfed in flames, and Rodriguez was thrown from his vehicle.

Rodriguez was airlifted to a hospital and later died of his injuries.

The other two drivers were also rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Rodriguez and the Toyota driver were not wearing seatbelts during the crash.

Three Injured in Fresno County Head-On Collision at Highway 180 and Sonoma Avenue

Fresno County, California (March 27, 2023) – According to the California Highway Patrol, a three-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday evening in Fresno County injured three people.

As per the report, the traffic collision happened around 8:30 p.m. at Highway 180 and Sonoma Avenue.

A westbound Chevrolet sedan on highway 180 swerved to the left and sideswiped an eastbound Ford Mustang. The Chevrolet then collided head-on with a Toyota Camry.

The Chevy driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash, was ejected on the roadway. The vehicle was then engulfed in flames.

The CHP helicopter airlifted the Chevy driver to the Community Regional Medical Center in extremely serious condition.

Drivers of the other two cars sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to the hospital via ground EMS.

Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
