According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at around 10:45 p.m. July 26, at the intersection of Colima Road and Batson Avenue.
For undetermined reasons, a driver in an SUV collided with a person riding a bicycle at the intersection. The exact cause of the accident was not immediately established.
The CHP officers and emergency crews immediately responded to the scene of the accident and attended to the rider.
The victim was then rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center with major injuries to a leg.
The operator of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
