Buellton, CA – The Santa Barbara County Sheriff -Coroner's Office has released the identity of a pedestrian who died in a rollover collision on Highway 101 in Buellton early this month.
The coroner identified the deceased driver as 41-year-old Robert Rowie Weiting.
Weiting was driving a Ford Ranger that overturned and came to rest down an embankment off Highway 101, just south of Jonata Park Road at about 10:25 a.m. on December 1, 2025.

Buellton, CA – A driver was killed in a rollover accident on Highway 101 in Buellton on Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities received a call at about 10:25 a.m. on December 1, 2025, about a solo crash on the highway, just south of Jonata Park Road.
CHP reported that a man was driving a dark-colored Ford Ranger on the northbound side of Highway 101 when he drifted off the east side and rolled down an embankment.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the scene and found the driver pinned inside the vehicle. After extrication, medics performed life-saving measures on the driver, but he was pronounced deceased at 11:13 a.m. The driver's identity was not immediately released pending notification of the next-of-kin.
One northbound Highway 101 lane was shut down as authorities worked to clear the scene. The CHP is investigating to establish what led up to the accident.
