Riverside, CA – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner has released the name of a motorcyclist who was killed in a Wednesday evening collision at an intersection in Riverside.
The coroner identified the rider as Brent Hoquist, a 35-year-old Corona man.
Hoquist was pronounced dead at the intersection of Gardner Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard around 7:11 p.m. on January 7, 2026.

Riverside, CA – A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening following a collision at an intersection in Woodcrest, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported shortly after 5 p.m. at Gardner Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard.
CHP officials said the motorcyclist was traveling through the intersection at an unconfirmed speed when the motorcycle collided with another vehicle under circumstances that remained unclear at the time of the report.
The rider was thrown onto the roadway. Bystanders rendered aid until Riverside County sheriff’s deputies and fire department paramedics arrived and initiated life-saving efforts. Despite those efforts, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene approximately 15 minutes later.The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been released.
No other injuries were reported.
The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene.
CHP officers from the Riverside-area office are handling the investigation.
The intersection was partially closed following the crash. All lanes were expected to reopen within several hours. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
