Investigators reported that Luis Alberto Santos Milan was driving a GMC Sierra towing a tandem axle-trailer westbound on Highway 126 when traffic ahead of him slowed down.

Redmond, CA – Authorities are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a Gilchrist woman and injured her husband on Friday east of Redmond.
According to the Oregon State Police, the incident took place on Highway 126, near Buckhorn Road on Friday, June 19.
Investigators reported that Luis Alberto Santos Milan was driving a GMC Sierra towing a tandem axle-trailer westbound on Highway 126 when traffic ahead of him slowed down.
Milan drifted into the eastbound side and crashed head-on into an oncoming Honda Accord that was driven by Christopher Pettit, 58, of Gilchrist.
Pettit was transported to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries while Milan was not injured.
A passenger in the Honda, identified as Michelle Pettit, 59, of Gilchrist, was killed in the accident.
The crash led to the closure of Highway 126 for three hours as authorities conducted an investigation into the incident.
Further information on the accident was not available. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Oregon State Police.
