Redmond, OR – Authorities are investigating a deadly collision that claimed the life of one person near Redmond on Wednesday morning.
The Oregon State Police reported that the crash took place at around 9 a.m. January 28, on Highway 126 and the Powell Butte Highway.
At least two vehicles reportedly crashed head-on at milepost 7 between Prineville and Redmond. Details on what may have led up to the accident were not immediately available.
The OSP, firefighters, and medical crews responded to the scene a few minutes after receiving reports of the accident.
One person was declared deceased at the scene by medics. The victim’s identity was not immediately released. There were no reports of other injuries in the crash.
According to a report by the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, the highway was expected to be shut down for an unspecified duration as authorities worked at the scene.
