Portland, OR – A search is underway following an incident where a driver fled the scene after crashing into a Portland Police Bureau patrol vehicle, injuring two officers on Tuesday morning.
The wreck happened at around 2:40 a.m. January 13, on Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street.
According to authorities, officers with the PPB East Precinct were responding to a call and the patrol car had the lights and sirens on when it was hit on the passenger side by a second vehicle. The second driver fled the scene after the crash and remains at large.
The Portland Fire and Rescue crews responded to the crash scene and helped pull out one of the officers from the patrol vehicle. The other officer was able to exit the vehicle on their own.
Both officers were transported to a hospital with minor injuries and were later released. The crash caused major damage to the passenger side of the patrol car.
Authorities said the suspect was operating a vehicle believed to be a dark-colored Chevy Suburban. The vehicle may have front-end damage following the crash.
An investigation into the hit-and-run collision is ongoing.
