Police Officer Seriously Injured in Crash at Olive and Hermosa Avenues in Lindsay

Lindsay, California (March 7, 2022) – A California police officer was injured in a Saturday evening high-speed chase that started in Tulare and ended in a crash in Lindsay, authorities said.

The major injury accident occurred at about 7:00 p.m., on March 5, at Olive Avenue and Hermosa Avenue.

According to the officials, the chase began on Highway 99 near Cartmill Avenue when a Tulare officer attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Lacey Emily Gonzalez, 36, of Fresno, that had been reported stolen by the Tulare Police.

Gonzalez reportedly failed to stop, got off the freeway, and headed eastbound, speeding and running stop signs. The pursuit continued into Lindsay, where the Gonzalez failed to stop at a stop sign at Olive and Hermosa avenues and crashed into a Tulare officer’s car.

As a result of the crash impact, the police vehicle sustained significant damage.

A police officer sustained serious injuries in the accident and was hospitalized for treatment.

Gonzalez and her passenger also were taken to the hospital.

Gonzalez was booked into Tulare County Jail on suspicion of reckless evading, evading an officer and causing injury, driving under the influence, and possession of methamphetamine. The passenger was released without charges.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
