Phoenix, AZ – An investigation is underway after a woman was hit and killed by a vehicle near Interstate 17 in north Phoenix on Thursday morning.
According to Phoenix police, the accident was reported just before 6 a.m. January 15, at Deer Valley Road and 26th Avenue.
Investigators reported that a car stopped at a light on Deer Valley Road was headed west when a woman stepped out in front of the car and was struck.
The woman sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared deceased. At the time of the report, the woman’s identity was not made public.
Police evaluated the driver at the scene and determined that the driver was not impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Phoenix Police Department is still gathering more information as they piece together evidence to establish the circumstances of the collision.
