Phoenix, AZ – A woman suffered life-threatening injuries and a 26-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a multi-vehicle crash Monday evening in west Phoenix.
The collision occurred around 8:45 p.m. near 47th Avenue and Indian School Road, and involved four vehicles.
Police said one woman was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators identified the suspected DUI driver as 26-year-old Joey Lopez, who was taken into custody following the crash.
At least three vehicles sustained heavy damage in the collision.
The crash shut down the intersection throughout the night, and it remained closed as of 8 a.m. Tuesday. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
Phoenix Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
