Phoenix, AZ – A man was hit and killed by a vehicle while walking across an intersection in Phoenix on Saturday night, according to a report by the Phoenix Police Department.
At around 11 p.m. July 18, authorities responded to reports of a collision in the area of 59th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard.
Preliminary reports indicate that the man was walking across 59th Avenue, outside of the crosswalk, when he was hit by a vehicle.
Phoenix police officers and the Phoenix Fire Department arrived within minutes and located the severely injured pedestrian.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the involved vehicle was at the scene when authorities arrived and was not suspected to have been impaired.
According to investigators, speed and DUI were not believed to have played a role in the incident.
The cause of the collision remained under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
