Phoenix, AZ – A motorcyclist died after colliding with a car early Saturday morning on Interstate 17 in Phoenix, the Arizona Department of Public Safety reported.
The collision occurred around 3 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of Glendale Avenue.
Authorities believe the rider crashed into the back of a car and went down into the freeway lanes.
The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries in the accident. Emergency personnel rushed the victim to a hospital, where they later died from the injuries.
The motorcycle and the car were towed away with major crash damage.
Investigators closed the northbound lanes of I-17 for several hours during the investigation.
