Phoenix, AZ – One person was injured in a collision involving a wrong-way motorist early Sunday morning in Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
At around 4:25 a.m. March 8, authorities responded to reports of a collision on Interstate 10 near the ramp to southbound SR 202.
According to the AZDPS, a driver was reportedly traveling the wrong way on westbound I-10 when they collided with another vehicle. It’s still unclear why the driver was traveling in the wrong direction.
The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The wrong-way motorist was not hurt in the incident. No identification details of either driver were immediately released.
As a result of the collision, the Interatate 10 westbound transition ramp to State Route 202 southbound was closed as investigations were ongoing.
Authorities are investigating impairment as a possible factor in the accident.
The AZDPS did not release additional details on the incident but an investigation is still ongoing.
