Phelan, CA – A pedestrian was killed in a crash on State Route 138 in Victorville on Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities said a white Ford Fusion was traveling westbound when a pedestrian reportedly ran into the roadway in front of the vehicle.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. The driver of the Ford Fusion remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The Ford Fusion sustained major front-end damage in the collision. The hood was crumpled on the passenger side, the right headlight area was crushed, and the windshield was shattered with a large impact point.
Fire crews and Caltrans responded to the scene. Authorities initiated a hard closure of lanes on SR-138 for the on-scene investigation. The roadway was fully reopened at approximately 11:25 p.m.
The crash caused a temporary shutdown of the westbound lanes, leading to traffic delays in the area near Sheep Creek Road while crews worked to clear the scene.
The Victorville crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
