Petaluma Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident on U.S. Highway 101 near Novato

Marin County, California (March 7, 2022) – A Petaluma motorcyclist was killed in a rear-end collision Monday morning near Novato in Marin County, according to authorities.

The deadly crash happened just after 6:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 101, just south of San Antonio Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.

CHP said the 46-year-old Petaluma man was splitting lanes on U.S. Highway 101 when traffic ahead abruptly slowed and he crashed into the back of a van.

The motorcyclist then spun around and slammed into a truck in the slow lane.

The rider was thrown off the bike upon the impact. Sadly, he died as a result of the crash. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash prompted the police to temporarily close the two southbound lanes near Olompali State Historic Park.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
