Peoria, AZ – Richard Blessen Identified as Cyclist Fatally Hit by Vehicle near 75th Ave and Shangri La Rd

According to the Peoria Police Department, the accident took place around 12:30 a.m. on October 13, 2026, on 75th Avenue near Shangri La Road.

Peoria, AZ – 52-year-old Richard Blessen died after he was struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning while riding a bicycle near an intersection in Peoria, authorities reported.

According to the Peoria Police Department, the accident took place around 12:30 a.m. on October 13, 2026, on 75th Avenue near Shangri La Road.

Peoria police officers responded to the area and found Blessen with fatal injuries.

Blessen was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Blessen was riding a bicycle in the area when he was hit by a car traveling southbound on 75th Avenue.

The driver stopped and remained at the scene.

Impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor, but the Peoria PD’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is investigating the accident.
