Peoria, AZ – A motorcyclist was severely injured in a collision with a vehicle in Peoria on Saturday night, according to a Peoria Police Department report.

At around 10 p.m. January 10, police received reports of a motorcyclist down in the area near 91st and Peoria avenues.

Police said a motorcyclist and a car collided near the intersection for unspecified reasons. However, speed and impairment were being investigated as possible factors

The Peoria Police Department and firefighters arrived at the scene a few minutes after receiving reports of the accident.

Medics transported the motorcyclist to a hospital with critical injuries. No one else sustained any injuries in the collision.

At the time of the report, police did not specify which driver was suspected of speed or DUI. The identities of the involved motorcyclist and driver were not disclosed.

The Peoria Police Department is investigating the incident and further details are expected to be released.

Speeding, impaired driving, and failure to yield continue to be leading contributors to fatal and serious collisions involving pedestrians statewide. While emergency response initiatives and public-awareness campaigns aim to curb these risks, Arizona’s highways and urban roadways still experience a substantial number of severe crashes each year.
