, CA. – A male died after he was hit by a vehicle Thursday evening in San Jacinto, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The accident was reported to authorities around 6:12 p.m. on State Street, south of Ramona Boulevard.

San Jacinto Sheriff's Station deputies responded to the scene and found an unresponsive male in the roadway.

The deputies provided life-saving measures before paramedics arrived.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was standing on the side of the road and fell into the roadway, where a passing car struck him.

Investigators suspect the victim may have been impaired at the time of the accident. Details about his age, name, and city of residence were not released pending next of kin's notification.

The driver of the car involved stopped and remained at the scene.

State Street between De Anza Drive and Ramona Boulevard was closed during the investigation.
