According to a report by the Fairfield Police Department, the incident took place on Travis Boulevard at the Interstate 80 overpass at about 1:30 a.m.
Kyle Dolcee, 35, of Fairfield, struck a pedestrian in the westbound lanes of Travis Boulevard.
The victim died in the accident.
Authorities are yet to release the victim's identity.
Dolcee was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The off-ramp was shut down for hours as authorities investigated the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
