A man was running across the southbound lanes on I-5 when a white big rig struck him.
The driver reportedly slowed down after the crash, then continued driving south towards Sacramento.
Medics responded to the scene and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased shortly after.
The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the collision.
